Silver Creek Baptist Church History

The Centennial History of Silver Creek Baptist Church, written by former pastor, Walter E. Tynes.

  1. The Silver Creek Baptist Church charter lists 13 men’s names.
  2. According to various church minutes, beginning in the early 1800’s, a group of members would withdraw their membership and help organize a new church in nearby areas.
  3. Centennial church minutes share that Silver Creek Baptist Church furnished most of the men for the organization of 10 nearby churches: Mt. Zion, Mt. Herman, Centerville, Silver Springs, Bala Chitto, Holmesville, Smyrna, Bluff Springs, Tylertown, and Mesa.
Isn’t it wonderful to know that a little church founded by 13 people over 200 years ago, when the United States of America was only 38 years old and Mississippi was not yet a state, is still going strong and serving the LORD faithfully. The founders built a strong spiritual foundation and gave us a wonderful heritage. Our prayer is that our current and future membership will continue to faithfully serve our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and share His message with the world.
